Thompson's Custom Orthotics & Prosthetics has hired four excellent technicians who graduated from Spokane Falls Community College. With the goal of
having credentialed technicians as the standard, we are confident that the students are taught according to recognized technical standards and graduate
with a degree or a certificate.

In response to a congratulatory note pursuant to the EDGE Industry Review article (November 2017):
You are so sweet to shoot me this note. 22 years ago this fall I landed on E. Nora Avenue in Spokane - where the heck does time go?
My memories of class are great ones. Best thing I ever did was become a trained technician.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

About the Mastectomy Fitter Course offered by the O&P Technology Program at SFCC
I want to tell you how comprehensive and informative the class was. I really appreciated how
concise and thorough the speakers were. In the past, I have attended vendor-based programs
that provided only a fraction of what I gleaned from your program.

Regarding the retirement of Clayton Wright, CP, Program Director
Congratulations to Clay! My first real experience with prosthetics was at SFCC and to the high standards that Clay set, I have not yet seen an equal. I am truly grateful
for my time spent in that program and give it credit for making me as good a CPO as I am today. Thank you Clay for taking your job so seriously and for giving everyone
an equal chance to be involved!
I will always remember my time at SFCC fondly and consider it the foundation for my career.

When selecting from the competitive pool of applicants for the CSUDH O&P Master's Program, we weigh technical skills and clinical experience very highly. Since
our program is so clinically oriented, where we create over 35 custom patient projects, those individuals that have a solid technical background tend to have a much
easier transition into the laboratory setting, freeing up time to focus more on their other studies. While their peers have a more difficult time and take much longer
to complete their projects.
On a broader view, we have found that students who graduate from Technical O&P programs, like the O&P Technology Programs at Spokane Falls Community College,
prior to entering into a Masters Practitioner program develop into very well-rounded practitioners. When practitioners understand how to create the device, how to
implement it, and how to prove its efficacy prior to completing their general studies, they have a better understanding of the entire clinical practice. These students
have a deeper commitment to the profession and are more aware of how to enhance it. We appreciate the time and effort it takes to complete the technology education
track and know that it is a rewarding and beneficial experience.

Melvin Burke is working out great! He came to us with a great base to his fabricating career. I believe SFCC prepared Melvin far more than if he had not attended
the O&P Technology Programs.

Daniel Rose is an excellent, hard worker, and I am very proud of Daniel Rose and Jessica Begley. They have produced eighty-five (85) prosthetic devises in the last
sixty (60) days, including everything from shoulder and hip disarticulation, Van Ness, lost wax, silicone expandable inner sockets, Silicone partial feet, congenital
Symes and everything in between! I guess what I'm saying is Jessica Begley, Cali Hanna and Daniel Rose (all SFCC grads) are awesome!
Good job meeting the future needs of O & P patients!
