Title: To Light A Candle - a Maziar Bahari Film
Description: Fifty-five minute film with a short discussion period.

Using interviews, personal stories, and archival footage - often smuggled out of Iran at great personal risk - the film, entitled To Light a Candle, highlights the constructive resilience of Iran's Baha'i community.

When Baha'i youth are faced with systematic exclusion from higher education by the Iranian regime, this community utilized Baha'i academics - dismissed for their teaching positions on the basis of their religion - to put in place an informal arrangement known as Baha'i Institute of Higher Education. This institute allows Baha'i youth to have access to university-level courses.

The film vividly documents that the threat of arrest and imprisonment is a daily reality for Iran's Baha'is, as academics barred from pursuing their professions attempt to educate young people in private homes.
