Fall of 2010 began my path as a full time instructor at the Spokane Falls Community College. My primary duty is being Coordinator/Lead Instructor of the Business Math Center where we offer various levels of Business Math. However, I also have the opportunity to teach a variety of lecture based courses within the Business Management and Business Technology Division. Among my favorite are the Business Math lectures for I-BEST and Flex Tech programs.

I grew up in Thompson Falls, MT, a small logging community in the northwest. After graduation I served a tour in the US Army and then returned to attend the University of Montana where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Education.

My career in teaching began at the high school level and included coaching junior high football. Years later I began working with adults as one of the first full time instructors at the Muckleshoot Tribal College outside of Auburn, WA. After four years there and completion of a Master of Science in Adult Education and Organizational Leadership from the University of Idaho, and went on to working for the state college system in many capacities. In 2005 my journey led to Spokane to become a manager of WorkFirst CJST programs within the IEL. Ultimately, I realized how much I missed the classroom and daily interaction with students.

Beginning Computer Skills Business Math - I-BEST
My name is Stephanie Freeman, and I am an instructor in the Business Technology Department. I completed my bachelor’s and master’s in Business Administration from Gonzaga University and also have a Master’s in Teaching from Whitworth University. The combination of my Master’s in Business Administration and Teaching allowed me to pursue both of my passions at the same time by teaching business in a college setting. I have taught a variety of classes within the BT Department and have also taught for the Business Department at SFCC and the School of Business at Gonzaga University. Perhaps two of my favorite responsibilities at SFCC are being part of the I-BEST and Flex Tech teams. I started teaching at SFCC in 2010 and hope there will be many more!

I am very blessed to be where I am now. I truly enjoy working with students to help them achieve their dreams.

Educational Background: I attended SFCC and transferred to the University of Southern California to finish my Bachelors in Business Administration Degree with a minor in Marketing. Then I accepted a position which entailed traveling the U.S. helping businesses market themselves and I enjoyed this for several years. We traveled from Maine to Texas to Wisconsin to California and had many adventures.

Settling down in Spokane next, I located the perfect company to work for, Group Health. I was, and still am, passionate about the quality of healthcare provided by Group Health and I was always proud to represent this company as the Sales and Marketing Director, Eastern Washington/North Idaho. I enjoyed this position for over 20 years. And again, I was able to travel to corporate offices of large corporations in other states in order to represent Group Health.

Seven years ago, a professor/friend needed me to teach Marketing and Human Relations at SFCC. I agreed to this, began teaching and found that I was driven to stay in order to work with more students. For me, helping students learn ideas and information that will serve them throughout life is absolutely the best profession. And I look forward to working with all students in this adventure.
