Community Colleges of Spokane does not have campus security police departments.
Limited security is provided by the use of privately contracted security services,
in-house campus security officers and by employees of the CCS Facilities staff.
These individuals also regulate parking and traffic, assist the college community
with a variety of public services, provide escorts and jump-starts, assist with keys locked in
vehicles, maintain the lost and found and assist law enforcement. At least one parking or security
officer, who will also provide emergency assistance, routinely patrols facilities
and parking lots of CCS’s two major campuses. Many facilities are monitored by electronic
surveillance systems.
Escort Service
The program’s intent is to get students, faculty and/or staff safely to their destinations
on campus or within a close proximity of the campus during the hours of darkness.
The on-duty security officer will instruct the caller as to where and when they
will meet and who will accompany them to their destination.
Before calling for an escort, please seek assistance from a friend, roommate or
colleague. This escort service is limited to the availability of security officers.
It is best to pre-plan your departure after dark. Avoid secluded areas, call home
or your destination to let someone know you are leaving and the route you plan to
take, and always try to walk in groups or pairs.
To receive this service, call the 24 hour security phone number: 475-7040.
