We know the Air Science program and flight lab costs are expensive. We have grants
available to help out with these costs. Apply for financial aid EARLY. You
start this process by completing the FAFSA online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our school code is 009544. We will send you follow
up information and paperwork.
If financial aid grant aid is not enough, we recommend borrowing a William D. Ford
Federal Direct Loan. There are three types available: Subsidized, Unsubsidized,
and PLUS loans. These loans have lower costs and better repayment than other outside
alternative loans. You will have the opportunity to apply for Subsidized and Unsubsidized
loans as part of the financial aid process.
If the above aid is not enough to cover your expenses and you are considered a dependent
student for financial aid, then you will want to work with your parent(s) to apply
for a Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). The PLUS loan, along with your
Sub/Unsubsidized loan, should cover all of your flight lab costs.
As a last resort, if the above aid is not enough to cover your expenses, we suggest
borrowing an alternative
loan. An alternative loan normally will require that you
have a co-signer and your credit will be checked. The costs for borrowing an alternative
loan are normally higher and the repayment options are different from the Direct
Loan programs mentioned above.
See Jane in the financial aid office on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30 AM – 12:00
PM, or call (509) 533-3550 if you have questions on setting up any
of the above.
